Project Description: Biophilic Food Court Design in Dhaka

Our design for a food court located on the second floor of a commercial building in Dhaka spans 25,000 square meters and features 16 food stalls, a children’s play area and private dining areas. The design focuses on incorporating biophilic principles, with the core concept being “sophistication meets nature”. This approach has been carefully chosen to address the design challenges in a dense, mechanized city like Dhaka, where nature often lags behind urban development. In our design, nature plays a central role. The introduction of trees throughout the space helps to bridge the gap between the built environment and the natural world. Trees are known for their ability to improve both mental and physical health, and we aimed to create an environment that promotes well-being and tranquility. Biophilic elements not only provide aesthetic value but also help reduce stress, improve mood and improve overall health. This connection with nature transforms the food court into a revitalizing space for visitors, giving them a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The layout is designed for easy navigation and comfort. The 16 food stalls are arranged in an open, accessible manner, with children’s play areas and private dining areas catering to a variety of needs. This thoughtful design ensures that visitors of all ages can enjoy themselves whether they are dining, relaxing or playing. By combining sophistication with natural elements, our design creates a harmonious and enriching experience that enhances the quality of life in the city.
